Welcome to Rice
Welcome to the Rice Presidential Search Committee website. As many of you know, Malcolm Gillis announced recently that he will step down on June 30, 2004, after eleven years of outstanding service. After a well-deserved sabbatical, he will return to Rice as a University Professor, which allows him to teach in any department. The Rice Presidential Search Committee was formed to conduct a comprehensive search to identify and attract top candidates for his successor. The Committee is comprised of members drawn from the Board of Trustees and representatives from the faculty, staff, alumni, and undergraduate/graduate student bodies. The Committee wishes to reach out to all constituents for your thoughts on this process. Accordingly, we have created this website as an interactive medium for your comments about the search for Rice University's new President.

In addition to preserving all that makes Rice unique, our next President must cultivate those areas that need further development and keep a rigorous eye towards the future. What do you think is critical? Let us know by filling out one of our questionnaires. Although the search must remain confidential, we will update you on our general progress as we go forward.
